Your image tells it all. If I get a guy over betting, bluffing, bullying. I am going to start calling his large preflop bets with PP, A10 or better. After the flop you bet 3/4 the pot and he re-raised you what did you think he had? suited rags? No way! He called a 8X the BB bet pre flop. AK to A8 suited very likely. But for that much at stake I have to put him on a premium pair or a set. Not many players are going to invest $38 on a pair of 8's. It's time to slow down after the re-raise. Basicly you trapped yourself.
Now if you are both maniac's then you more then likely have the best hand. Your style works great if you can handle the swings and are able to get away from a hand.

If you have no stats on him, then he just arrived? If so, he's not necessarily aware of your table image. (Or, you're not using PokerTracker, in which case you should consider using PokerTracker).
