The turn seems to be the key action. Raise there and find out information or just try to get to a cheap showdown.?

your call on the river is not correct i think, ok I know I call 40$ river bets in a 140$ pot with 2 low pairs.....

Hand 1: I make a bet on the flop with the intent of going away if there is any action at all. Much better to pay the $2 you paid off later by trying to win it now when hands like you lost to would have folded.

Hand 2: I call that turn bet, too, with the intent of folding to any reasonable river bet even if I improve (hopefully I have the discipline to this most times). I don't think 2 pair or a set are betting OOP on that river after a weak turn bet. You don't lose much by folding, even if you are wrong it won't be very often. Ideally, you hope that a 2 pair type hand will bet another 0.25 on river. Many play that way at these stakes. I can't see folding the turn for a quarter even if I'm likely beat because I never want to give the impression that I'll raise a flop and go away for a min-bet on turn. Seems too easy to get bet into every time a scare card hits. You want to take the pot from me? Fine, but at least make a real bet to do so.

Hand 1 I'd make a raise on the turn then shut down, although if he leads for any more than the minimum (or is a rock) I'd fold outright. I think I raise preflop too but I know you don't do that much...

Hand 2 I think you have to raise that turn (a complete bluff, on the assumption his flush is non-nut) if he'll fold a weak flush, or to fold. I have no idea what you're trying to achieve here by smooth calling; surely he has to have a flush, and if not you're telling him you don't and letting him take you off any river?

hand 2, what if this was something i would do with the nut flush. Call the turn in position to raise him on the river.
