I only really did it because he's the short stack but should have known he had AA. Was this just unavoidable? I called preflop because of all the other callers.

I think folding here would be really bad. You played it fine. Only one hand beats you here and I think he pushes here with a lot of hands other than just AA. Pot is paying you 4:1.
