Do I realyl call this bet??

Postby Rhound50 » Sat Jan 29, 2005 8:45 pm

This hand is from last night 2/4 Nl $200 max, I have been having a rough night I am in for two and a half buy in already, I have about 200 in front of me. I get QQ UTG, the table has been calling every raise, so I make it $35 and of course I get 4 callers, not really what I want here. Flop is AK9 two clubs and I dont have the q of clubs. Just about the worst possible flop for my hand. I now really only have one clean out. I check and it checks around I'm still pretty sure someone has to have me beat, but I have played with a bunch of these guys before and they know I love to check raise. The turn is a blank, I check again the 2nd player goes all in for $45. It folds back to me and I muck. Someone makes a comment about that is the best I can do with a $35 dollar raise and I say I had QQ what can I do. One of the players at my table who I have played with before asks how can I lay down to a $45 bet there. He says he would call every time. Of course he is a calling station and thats what calling stations do. What are other people opinions here?? The onky thing I can really beat is a stone bluff here or a flush draw. Even a weak K has me drawing to 4%.

You got 4 callers for a $35 raise? If the table is playing like that I limp with QQ UTG.

And no I wouldnt call that bet.

When I read $35 raise, I had to read it 3 times before I believed it!!!

Anyway, no I wouldn't call that bet....you have to figure you are beat.
Hope your night got better afterward.

Last night was really frustrating, this table was so juicy, very passive and a couple of calling stations and I just couldnt get a hand to bust it. I have been in a bit of a slump the last couple of weeks all starting with my AA vs A8 bs. My last 4 sessions I have 3 negative sessions, in the 17 sessions before that I had only 3 losing seesions. There was one player at the table last night, an old man who is notorious for donating money to the table and he was sitting one seat to my right so in this hand he was in the BB, what I was really trying to do was to get head up with him. I really thought that a 9x BB raise would do a reasonable job of getting me heads up but that was just the way it has gone my last couple of sittings. Figures the week, I quit my job to have more study time would be the time I start getting cold cards  At least I was smart enough to built up a lareg enought bankroll before I quit.

Oh, this is live? That explains it. Last time I played live, I raised 5 limpers to $40 with my JJ and they all called.

Crazy

Ice,

Why would you limp with Queens at this type table?

If I know Im getting 4 callers and I know theres 40% chance that Im getting an overcard (Im guessing at that number), then I dont like QQ out of position all that much.

Any overcard and youre in trouble. Then theres the chance someone hit a a set if theres no overcards. The pot will be very big so your flop bet is going to pot commit you right away.

I understand what your saying, but I disagree. Obviously, your variation will be through the roof in a game like this, but raising with QQ KK and AA is still going to be extremely profitable. However, if the game is aggressive, a limp reraise all-in might be a better alternative. Or if it is just a bunch of calling stations a bigger preflop raise may be in order (even though the raise mentioned seems absurdly large already)

Of course this is dependent on how deep the stacks are and whether your opponnents have the ability to recognize common betting patterns.......

But what do you think your opponnents would put you on if you raised that large preflop...... checked in position on an AKx flop, and then raised large on the turn...... just a thought.

EDIT: Didn't realize he was all in. But regardless.... assume deep stacks.
