Whos going to win?

Postby iceman5 » Sun Jan 30, 2005 12:32 pm

$1/$2 NL at Gaming Club.

Its folded to me in the SB and I have AK. I raise to $7. The BB calls. BB started with $120 and I have him covered
The pot is $14. The flop is A83. I check. He bets $8. I check raise the min to $16 and he calls.

Pot is $46. The turn is a 2. I bet $25. He raises to $50. I push all in. He calls.

How do you like my play and who do you think wins? I'll say that the person who was ahead when the money went in won the hand.

The opponent. I put him on a set with all the action he was giving you, even though you kept showing aggression.

I say opponent as well. However, I think he called you with an A2, tried win it on the flop in case you had a kq or similiar then made a bad call and got lucky on the turn.

He has you beat for sure. I think 2-pair for sure. A2s or A3s

Nobody commented on my check raise of the flop with TPTK. Obviously this guy didnt believe I had an ace when I checked the flop. He had KK and I won

In general I think you played the hand in such a way that you could have no idea what your opponnent held when he went all in, yet he should have been able to accurately peg you on a hand with position on you in a large pot. I think playing it strongly as opposed to check-min raising will result in getting your opponnent to commit his whole stack with a weaker ace more often than the way you played it. (against any quasi-sane opponnent)

However, you did play the hand perfectly against someone with KK =)

If this had been on the tables I play - $10 or $25 NL at UB, I would have put him on A8. For some reason a lot of players like to play that hand. I must admit, I wasn't expecting KK.

Ok I give up, I think I'll have to sign up at Gaming Club now, I've heard too many good things about the NL there to pass it up... Iceman, I think I remember reading something on here about signing up on Gaming Club through a BTP referral, I'll help ya out just give me directions.

Eaglesfan, I played PokerStars last night just for comparison. That place is a rock garden compared to Gaming Club. Its much tougher to get paid off big at Stars

You can click here

Or just click on of the banners.

Kenny, No I actually thought he had AQ or AJ. Ive noticed that people wont back down when its a battle of just the blinds.

I was thinking that, too: the key is you're both in the blinds.

At the beginning of the hand, he puts you on a steal attempt. He has KK. He just knows he's way ahead. And he doesn't alter that judgment no matter what cards come.
