Day one...the journey begins

Postby WannaBeEagle » Sat Jan 07, 2006 8:24 am

Started the day with my massive BR of $2.86.

NL10
Results
+$16.97 / 3.53hours
43.63 BB/100
23.87 BB/Hr

Overall stats
#hands: 187
VP$IP: 22.92% (maybe too high, but it is NL10 and Pacific)
PF raise: 7.81% (right on the spot, hope to keep it there)
WtSD: 39.81% (rather high but had good hands when I was in)
Won at SD: 53.66% (my pocket pairs got beaten by two paired crap played passive)
Status: Eagle

Reflections
No specific hand histories to discuss...its amazing how many times people go all in with crap at Pacific (and lucks out a lot to). Mental note..always expect two paired crap at this level and dont get upset with it. Make them pay when a set comes along instead...slam in the chips in the middle when flopped a set and flush draw is apparent....they usually will call making it +EV (would you guys do the same or?).

Dont care to much about the stats since its a microscopic sample, but I will try to keep it there regarding overall stats...except try to raise my Won at SD. I got 57k hands in another database but I dont want that to reflect my NL play.

Women, dont be upset...

Why did the cavemen drag their women in the hair on the way to the cave?
Beacuse if they dragged them in the feet they would be full of mud.

Forgot some stuff...

Postby WannaBeEagle » Sat Jan 07, 2006 9:16 am

Regarding plans for moving up in limits...

NL10: Start here...
NL25: When 20 buy-ins are at the Pacific account
NL50: When 25 buy-ins are at the Pacific account
NL50: When 30 buy-ins are at the Pacific account
NL100: When 40 buy-ins are at the Pacific account
...

As you can see it's kind of a ladder and I think it's important to have more and more buy-ins as you move up in limits (at least for me). This is because imho aggressive poker means re-raising sometimes (a lot of times) and one can't just do that with the echo of how much one might lose if it turns out you are beat. I mean..folding to a big raise/re-reraise often just don't do it at the higher limits where psychology is a big factor. At lower limits its more often just stupid bluffs or apparent nuts.

Session loss stops...2 buy-ins (and I mean getting cleaned out 2 times), since it will affect my play I think.

Limit dropping, well...when the qualifications are not met for a limit.

Looks good to me. IMO aggressive poker at the $10 and $25 levels means betting big with big made hands, I don't think bluffing is very +EV until you reach the $100's and people are capable of folding A10 on a K-10-7 flop.

Best of luck.

Session 2

Postby WannaBeEagle » Sat Jan 07, 2006 6:17 pm

This session was real crap...managed to make a decent stack but potbetted it away on preflop raises that either missed totally or got crushed by two pairs .

NL10
Results
+$1.05 / 178mins
3.95 BB/100
1.77 BB/Hr

Reflections
I showed a minor profit so it isn't that it was a big loss but I turned into a calling station for all the two pairs/sets and THAT I do not like at all...won't exactly make any money! If only they could raise when they hit and not just call, call, call. My VP$IP rised a bit and that is not good either...need to tighten up or go LAG big time on them...however, LAG isn't my goal so f**k that.

Wont be playing anything tomorrow (I think)...we'll see.

Done for the day

Postby WannaBeEagle » Mon Jan 09, 2006 4:07 pm

An crap session IMO...no major good pockets, still one crap call when I flopped a set of sevens and the boad was 7 6 5 and a 9 came on turn. How can anyone with any braincells left call a 2/3 potbet after turn on that board? Well, yours truely did!

FISH BEHAVOIUR!!!! THIS ISN'T LIMIT WHERE A MISTAKE LIKE THAT COST ONE BET!!!

Ok, I've calmed down :D

Won't even bother to post the results in details...short summary for session:

23.03 BB/100

Still Eagle status according to Excessions filter and I intend to keep it there as the hand count increases. After all, the goal of this journal is mostly to learn TAA NL but it's hard to play TAA with so many calling stations (like myself wrt. the set of sevens.
 )

Why do men die before their wifes?
Because they want to!
