Piers, what are the finer points of the 'super raise' on 4th street? I've only played on Pacific (jokes to yourselves please) so I'm not sure if it's normal to be able to raise the normal size bet 3 times rather than double.

Interesting stud hands anyone plays would be very well received by me, no matter how basic, I'm a complete novice but find it very interesting for the follwing reasons: (1) It isn't hold'em.

If I am correct in my assumption after reading your post. at Paradise where the $1/.5 stud game has no ante you should play very tight and expect to need a stronger hand to take down the pot.

The low limit games are usually loose-passive. Even when I three-bet I seem to get four handed on fourth street. I think that the gain from steal should be discounted until you are certain that you are in a reasonably tight game. That said, the Party .5/1 and 1/2 games have such a high ante that even with a discount for the loose-passive nature of the games those pots still need to be jammed with some of the more marginal holdings.

I note that these numbers do not apply across the board to 7-stud hi/lo. Hi/lo is a lower variance game, but hand selection is critical.

Tarheel, in a no-ante game position is very important. I tighten way up from early position and attempt frequent bring-in steals from late position.
