LO8--A2 made hand

Ok, I'm in the BB on the $25 table. I have A2 with no side support. Flop comes 645. I check and it's potted in LP for $5.25. Now, do I call and pray I'm not counterfeited? He's probably got A2, too, so I'm no better than a split if it holds up, right? He's covered, if it means anything.

Is folding too weak?

i think that there's a lot more info we need to know... but in general, i'd fold. it's not weak tight, as you're risking potentially your whole stack for $2.50 or so (half the current pot). this is usually not a good idea.

other info i'd like to know...

were there any other callers?

how many left to act behind?

are the remaining players calling stations?

what are your side cards? do you have overs?


if you think you can get three others in the pot, then it's more possible to call. even then... ugh. if you have overs, you'd be shocked at how often TP and the nut low will win you 3/4. on this particular board, i think dumping is in order, as an A23 is rocking, or if you have several callers, someone has the high and you're probably sharing the low. if you have any backdoor flush opportunities, i think you'd be surprised how much this can add value to your hand.

also, your title says LO8, but you're referring to plo8, right?

Yeah, I started playing around with PLO8. I like it. Actually, I'm surprised at how much I enjoy it. Not many hard decisions. Players who seem to pay off nicely. Playing position. It's not as hard a game as it appears, and the variance is pretty low, at least at the $25 tables. I was doing very well this morning on a very passive table, then hit a run where I'd have good cards against very bad boards. Some beautiful, very strong hands like A233s and seeing KKQ on the flop. Bummer.

Re: this hand. I felt pretty sure it was the right thing to do. As it was, there was a caller behind me who called. The board turned out ok, but I would have ended up splitting with original raiser.

I read something funny the other day. "If I win any more pots, I'll be broke." I understand that phrase now.
