Handling a downswing

Just coming out of a terrible downswing myself. What I have done this time and many times when I am in a little funk in the limit game I will play some different games. It justs breaks me out of a bad mind set where I raise with aces and I am already wondering how they are going to get beat. Play some Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. The donkeys have VERY little chance there to beat up on you if you are playing solid.

I second that advice, i'm coming out of a bad swing myself and have taken up Limit 08, if you're disciplined this game will reward you without a doubt, there aren't as many suckouts as you would think.

Well first I curse, than I throw someting, than I curse again. After I calm down, appoligise to the neighbors for being load, and clean up the mess I made from throwing things, I usually take a couple days off. Instead of playing poker I go to the gym, for me there is a major connection from my body to my mind, when I am working out I am better at contolling my emotions (frusteration mostly). Also playing a new game can be a good break too, or for NL players playing micro limits and playing like a total donk can be good too.

I take a couple of days off until I'm not afraid of getting my ass handed to me. I've also become better at handling tilt, so it isn't as much of an issue any more. I think sustained downswings are really more often a matter of mindset than horrible luck, although thats possible too.
