Trying to raise preflop

Since i'm bonus whoring low limits at empire, i decided to try to mix some raises in preflop. however, these people seem more apt to call a raise than to limp so I found very few situations where I like my hand and position enough to put in a raise. Here are a couple though.

I also raised 89TJss in late mp after a few limpers and the flop came AA5 and a guy lead out pot into me. I folded and he showed A467. If i had an ace (which would have a better kicker) i would have raised him but i honestly think he thought his hand was a powerhouse. I saw that flop and felt they were either gonna put me on nothing or quads.

i've really started to see the pfr as a way to prime the pump when you have position. i don't think that you have to take a stab at every flop that you miss. certainly a CB is in order, but what you really want is to see how much people like their hands. you might be able to get a free look at the turn, and you might be able to make some select steals, but if you're playing a family pot, you're playing a family pot whether it was raised or not. as such, good lay downs and/or checks are in order. again, the main gain imho is that you have position in a bigger pot.

well i think my preflop raise let me take hand 2 away as a raise normally means AA and the Ace hit on the turn.
