What would you do here at this stage of the tourney???????

514 players entered last night $100 buy in NL Tourney on PartyPoker.

I played pretty solid poker, Won a couple pots early and jumped out to a 8000 chips then went card dead for most of the mid stages of the tourney. We get close to the bubble and I only have about 6000 which was around average. I loosen up and start attacking blinds, I dont care about making the money, I want a top 5 finish. I built up my stack to 20000, without really showing down a hand except for my AK vs a 99 small stack.

I make the money and am card for a while. I successfully steal blinds twice in three orbits, but had to fold for a reraise allin. Anyway, theres 50 people left, I have about $17000 in chips, well below average. Chip leader over $70,000. The player to my immediate right made the money extremely short stacked but picked up AK, AK, KK all in the last orbit, and now has $28,000.

He opens for $4000 in MP, with blinds of 800/1600. I pick up AQ of hearts.
Basically, i have about 10 BB left. I just felt that he had me dominated but with my goal of top 5, I start to have visions of him having JJ TT 99.
I told myself i dont want to bust out of the tourney with AQ or pocket pairs under 55.. Its been the death of me lately.
So I decided to fold and wait for a better spot, I still have a couple orbits where I could double up a few times to make a run at the final spots...
That makes sense, doesnt it. But I actually went allin

any read on the player besides him being short stacked before and getting a run of cards when he needs? was he limping or raising a lot?

At this point, i don't think you can wait and you want to have some fold equity if someone raises. If you wait a round, your equity goes done a good amount so I raise all in and take my chances.

I think you have to move in there. With less than 10 bb's, you're going to have to move in soon. You'll probably get action here, so you should take it.

If the guy really just had a run of KK, AK, etc and now he has AA, KK or QQ again, merry christmas to him. I'm betting he's on a rush and get a little excited with his 10,10.

I agree. AQ is a push there everytime unless he's a rock.

I'm pushing here also.

But here is how it has been playing out for me lately.

I Push He calls all others fold. I am happy to see he has KQ. The flop comes QQx the turn x the river brings his K and I am out in the middle money area.

The TRN game has become very strange. So many pushing and praying. I have tried severial different types of play to combat this with out much luck yet. When I think I have found a method that works I will pass it on.
