other than maybe check calling the river instead of leading, not much to be done. Looks like he's on some sort of draw, probably flush drae or 78 both that missed so check calling the river is probably best.

Eh-- if i check i might induce a bet from something worse and/or a busted draw. However, i had a hard time putting him on a draw when he called the turn bet unless it was a damn good one, like better than naked clubs for example, because calling that turn bet with clubs or a straight draw that is not a full wrap is pretty unprofitable (I would think?).

The bottom line is yeah, sets are tricky in omaha. I dont play PLO much but i have played lots of limit omaha, and i fully understand that sets are not always the nuts by a long shot when people are holding 4 cards in thier hand instead of 2.

However, in this situation, the pot was heads up for one thing, and secondly, there was exactly two straightsout there, no flush no nothin, and to have that the mizor would have to hold a 5 and a 7 or a 5 deuce. Otherwise, my hand is the best, and anything he was calling me with on the turn was no good, unless it had 75 in it. And if i check the river, i dont think the chances he's going to bluff at me with a busted flush draw are all that great. Its not like there was any scare card on the river. I highly doubt that hed think 'hey, i think ill represent the 75'... given the action, im pretty sure he knew i had a hand, although it sobviously possible that he didnt.

The way i see it, lets even say he'll l bluff it if checked to like, 20% of the time he has a busted draw. But, if he has a not so strong made hand that he might have called with, hes going to check behind like, almost 100% of the time, and unless hes got 25 or 75, i missed out on $300+.

I dunno i guess my bottom line is that my hand is probably good like 90% of the time here, so why not bet it? I dunno. Would you guys really check that?

Oh yeah, and to answer Bris question, the truth is I didnt realize exactly how big 2/4 omaha played. I did not think that i would be losing frickin $1400 pots in that damn game. I am probly gonna stay away from the 2/4 game until either a) I manage to runnitup enough that it plays small for me (unlikely, since im too donktastic to runnitup), or else i get a bit more experience playing 1/2.

yes i check. i want to control pot size with just a set unless i know that no str8s are out.

he had a big wrap and a flush draw, and i'm surprised you didn't at least entertain the possibility that he has this very hand. furthermore, your pfr suggests that he should entertain the possibility that you have AA for the set of aces. he's clearly not afraid of what you're bringing (assuming he's any good). furthermore, if you continue to demonstrate that you're willing to pay off the nuts with your stack, his implied odds are fantastic.

if this guy is a complete moron, then jamming is fine, but these guys aren't able to stay at the table for long.

also, even if you think your hand is good 90% of the time (i think lower), the percent of time your hand is good and more of villain's money goes in the pot is MUCH lower.

all sarcasm aside, i know you are neither an ignorant poker player nor lack experience at the table. please don't perceive my barbs as suggesting either of these. that being said, i think you overplayed a mediocre hand.

yeah i dunno bout my skill level, i kindof keep a PLO table open amongst all the others just for fun and whatnot. Iim competent in it, and i beat the 1/2 pretty consistently... Those players are really goawful..- lots of loose passive players (this is on party by the way), easy to make a laydown against em and easy to makem pay off too. Alot of the guys in the 2/4 game know how to bring the heat though, and do seem to be better. In fact, the mizor that broke me was the one i doubled up on earlier when i flopped a kinghigh flush and he repotted me when the board paired, and i called and he was on a bluff with like, a 3 card wrap, drawing stone cold dead against the flush.

So alright- maybe i overplayed this hand. I put the guy on either a straight/flush draw type thing, or else aces up...POSSIBLY a smaller set, but i figure hed HAVE to raise with that somewhere along the line, even if he suspected i had top set. If he had a draw i didnt think it was a very great one, because if he had a flush draw and a big wrap (on the flop) I would think he'd pop me on the flop, especially since he has position...but he just flat called so i figured his hand wasnt great. I also thought that if he had a straight draw that it would be a higher one, like A78T type hand,
I cant fault him for how he played the hand, as his hand turned into a bona fide monster on the turn...

The offsuit three just seemed to be a pretty innocuous card...if the river was a 5, 7, 8, T, or a club, then i would have checked it- those were the cards i was hoping wouldnt come. I mean obviously no card is 'safe' if it turns my hand into the non nuts, but isnt that non club 3 is one of the safer cards in the deck? I mean, this isnt PLO8, i didnt think anyone would play a hand with a bunch of loball in it like this guy did. The amusing thing here is that a deuce would have made his hand too... *GAG*.... not that things wouldve turned out any differently, of course...
